MUSKEGON,
MI, April 3, 2008 - The Muskegon Summer Celebration,
The BIG Party, presented by Esurance, announces
several new options for patrons to enjoy the Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge
Main Stage concerts for this year’s event,
June 26 – July 6. Thus far the Miller Lite
Headline Artists announced are The Steve Miller
Band with special guest Joe Cocker, The Whispers,
Montgomery Gentry, and Sammy Hagar. “These
new ticketing options give our customers more
opportunities for specialty seating, which is
a growing trend in the concert business,”
said Executive Director Joe Austin. “Some
patrons want an enhanced concert experience.”
There are two changes to the
line up at this time. Morris Day and the Time,
scheduled to open for the Whispers on June 29
has cancelled, and Bucky Covington has been added
to the Montgomery Gentry bill on July 2. Rock
influenced country star, Bucky Covington’s
popularity grew as a contestant on America Idol
in 2006. While he did not win, a subsequent tour
with other Idol contestants gave him invaluable
experience while playing for arena-sized crowds.
In April 2007 he released his first album, Bucky
Covington. While the first single, “A Different
World,” had only marginal success, the second
single, “It’s Good to Be Us,”
just broke into the top ten on the Country charts.
Progress is being made on
the remaining open nights and more confirmations
are imminent. “We’re seeking current
and classic rock acts, more R&B, and more
country,” said Main Stage Director Tim Lipan.
“We plan to release more information as
soon as acts give us the go ahead. We intend to
have the remaining acts in place before the Pass
Party on May 16.”
One of the new areas offered
for the first time will be Premier Seating located
along the side of the stage. These seats offer
one of the best views in the venue. Fifty-six
reserved seats will be available for each concert,
and those with a Premier Seating ticket will be
able to access the general concert venue or the
Premier Seating area without having to wait in
line. In addition there will be private restroom
facilities and a cash bar for those in this area.
The cost for this area is $30 above the price
of a single day ticket and can be purchased as
a single ticket or as an upgrade to pass holders.
Also for the first time, two
sections that have been reserved specifically
for sponsors will be available on specific nights.
The Bridge Chalet and Sky Deck will have individual
tickets available beginning June 11 once the available
nights are determined. The price for both of these
areas will be $20 above the single day ticket
price and can be purchased as a single ticket
or as an upgrade to pass holders. The Bridge Chalet
ticket includes a catered meal from Brann’s,
private cash bar and private restroom facilities.
The view of the stage is somewhat restricted.
The Sky Deck provides one of the best views of
the stage. There are also private restroom facilities
and a cash bar in the Sky Deck area. Both Bridge
Chalet and Sky Deck ticket holders are allowed
to use the Special Access lane at the main gate
to gain access to their seats instead of waiting
in the general admission line.
Returning as an alternative
seating option will be the Reserved Seating area.
This area, located to the immediate right of the
sound tent approximately 150 feet from the stage,
contains 144 reserved seats, so there is no need
to bring or rent a chair to the venue. Also Reserved
Seating ticket holders may access the concert
venue using the Special Access lane, so there
is no need to wait in line. The cost for the Reserved
Seating is $10 above the single day ticket price
and can be purchased as a single ticket or as
upgrade to pass holders.
The new Club Celebration will
be the place to be for those wanting to “get
the party started.” Located one block from
the main entrance to Heritage Landing at Seventh
Street and Western Avenue, Club Celebration’s
party atmosphere offers a fully catered meal from
Brann’s, a private tented party area, reduced
pricing on alcoholic beverages, prize drawings,
private restroom facilities, and express access
into the concert venue. There will be up to 200
tickets available each night for $20 above the
single day ticket price and can be purchased as
a single ticket or as an upgrade to pass holders.
This area will open earlier (4:00 PM each day)
and will remain open until 9:00 PM.
All of these new seating
options and general admission tickets for individual
concerts will be available beginning this Saturday,
April 5, at 9:00 AM at all Star Tickets PLUS outlets
which include most Michigan Meijer Stores and
the Frauenthal Center for the Performing Arts.
Tickets are also available on-line at www.starticketsplus.com
or by calling (616) 222-4000 (in Grand Rapids)
or toll free at 1-800-585-3737. In addition Summer
Celebration will also be offering one of the summer’s
biggest entertainment values anywhere in the Midwest
with the return of the Sappi 11-Day Pass. With
this pass you can attend any and all of the Miller
Lite Headline evening concerts on the Chrysler
Jeep Dodge Main Stage. The passes will first be
available at the Sappi 11-Day Pass Party on Friday,
May 16, at the LC Walker Arena. For more information
