MUSKEGON, MI, April 15, 2008 - The Muskegon Summer Celebration, The BIG Party, presented by Esurance, announces three more acts on the Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge Main Stage for this year’s event, June 26 – July 6. In addition to previously announced Miller Lite Headline Artists, The Steve Miller Band, Joe Cocker, The Whispers, Montgomery Gentry, Bucky Covington and Sammy Hagar, are Sean Kingston, Seether, Finger Eleven, Staind, and Hinder. “These acts reflect an attempt to create a lineup that appeals to a wide range of patrons from those who enjoy classic rock to those who prefer the chart toppers of today,” said Executive Director Joe Austin. “We expect to announce more acts very soon that will continue this trend of blending classic and current musical entertainment.”

Sean Kingston will open for the Whispers on Sunday, June 29 replacing Morris Day and The Time who cancelled their Muskegon appearance. At only 18, Sean Kingston has seen his career rocket skyward in just the last few months. Born in Florida he spent his formative years in Jamaica which helps account for his unique singing style, a blend of rap, reggae, pop, and doo-wop that is something truly refreshing. His monster #1 hit last summer, “Beautiful Girls” was followed up by Top 10 tunes, “Me Love” and “Take You There.” Sean was also featured on Natasha Bedingfield’s recent hit, “Love Like This.” There are more singles on the way including, “There’s Nothin’” and “Dry Your Eyes,” a heart-felt ode to his mother. Named the second hottest new music star of 2008 by FORBES, Sean Kingston is definitely an artist to pay attention to AND see at Summer Celebration.

As they continue to get hotter, Seether returns to the Summer Celebration on Thursday, July 3. Hailing from South Africa, Seether landed a spot on Ozzfest in 2002. They released their initial album, Disclaimer, that year and have since released four more albums including their latest, Finding Beauty in Negative Spaces. Number one hits like, “Fake It” and “Remedy” join “Broken,” “The Gift,” “Truth,” and their latest climbing single, “Rise Above This” as staples of the Seether collection. Opening for Seether will be Finger Eleven, an alternative metal band formed in Burlington, Ontario. Their first two albums, Tip and Greyest of Blue Skies received little attention from American rock fans, but the third try was a charm with Finger Eleven, which went gold and produced the smash hit “One Thing.” After various rounds of touring the band released Them vs. You vs. Me which produced another mega-hit, “Paralyzer.” After recently winning a Juno award for the Best Album of the Year, Finger Eleven seems poised to reach the big time.

Friday, July 4, will see the Summer Celebration debut of two of today’s more popular rock acts, Staind and Hinder. Staind got together in New England in the mid-nineties, but caught their big break in 1997 when they had an opportunity to open for Limp Bizkit. Fred Durst, Limp Bizkit’s frontman, was so impressed he invited Staind to Jacksonville, Florida to record new songs and later introduced them to executives at Flip Records. The rest is history. Touring began in earnest with gigs on the Vans Warped Tour and with Kid Rock and Limp Bizkit again. The breakthrough came in 2001 with the release of the album, Break the Cycle which produced the hits “It’s Been a While,” “Fade,” “For You,” and “Epiphany.” Since then 14 Shades of Grey and Chapter V have followed with number one hits, “So Far Away” and “Right Here,” and there is a new album on the way this summer. Opening for Staind is a relative new-comer, Hinder. Formed in Oklahoma City in the early 2000’s, Hinder took the path so many other rock bands take by opening for more established bands and then releasing their own album independently. However, Universal took notice, signed the band, and released Extreme Behavior in 2005. From that album came two smash number one hits, “Lips Of An Angel” and “Better Than Me.” Following Staind and Hinder will be the spectacular July 4 fireworks over Muskegon Lake.
